While you can’t always predict when a disaster or emergency might strike, you can always plan ahead and be prepared! Given recent events and the ongoing threat of disasters of all kinds, it is imperative that health personnel and first responders be trained to protect the health and safety of their patients and communities.
The Advance Disaster Life Support ™ (ADLS®) Course v.3.0 is a competency-bases, operations-level course that applies clinical – and population-bases principles and practices to the management of mass casualty events. The course is designed to prepare health professionals for catastrophic events that can seriously impact the ability of the public and private health response system to meet the needs of all affected populations.
ADLS is an intensive, two-day course that allows participants to demonstrate competencies in mass casualty triage, surge capacity management, personal protection, and decontamination. The course incorporates interactive sessions in which participants assess and treat injuries and illnesses in simulated disaster scenarios. Training is focuses on the development of hands-on skills to allow participants to apply the knowledge learned in the Core Disaster Life Support® and Basic Disaster Life Support™ courses.

1. Core Disaster Life Support ® (CDLS®) Course v.3.0
CDLS is a half-day, competency-based, awareness level course that introduces clinical and public health concepts and principles as an all-hazards framework for the management of disasters and public health emergencies. CDLS teaches individuals from diverse professions, disciplines and backgrounds how to come together as a team to enhance personal and community readiness and resilience for catastrophic health emergencies.
2. Basic Disaster Life Support ™ (BDLS®) Course v.3.0
BDLS is a competency-based, awareness-level course that focuses on casualty and population-based care across a broad range of disasters. The one-day course teaches basic concepts and principles to prepare health personnel for the clinical and public health management of mass casualty events. BDLS incorporates interactive adult learning approaches to enhance health workforce readiness and maximize the integration of the health sector in community preparedness, responses, and recovery efforts.
