1. Due process permits a state to continue the commitment of a person as mentally ill and dangerous when that person is mentally
ill and a danger either to himself or others. 2. Discharge procedures governing persons committed as mentally ill and dangerous do not violate the due process rights of
a person committed as mentally ill and dangerous where they are reasonably related to the purpose for which the person was
committed. Minn. Stat. § 253B.18, subd. 15 (1992).
